How to raise your freelance rates? Per word pay varies from freelancer to freelancer

Writers struggle a lot to increase their rate per word in freelancing. It may take a long time to reach INR 2 RPW (Rate per word):

Some freelancers work at as low as 50 paise per word while some charge Rs.8 RPW.

How can such a wide difference exist in the industry?

This difference exists because content is the most vulnerable form of service that you may take from anyone.

Quality of content embarks the journey of a brand and therefore some brands are ready to pay premium prices to experienced writers.

Rate variation is based on:

- engagement through content that you can guarantee to the brand

- correct keywords to bring visibility

- right words with right persuasion, right technique as per brand's need

Here are 3 basic steps to increase your freelancing pay:

1. Always follow deadline: Be professional in your service and develop repeat loyal customers

When you respect client's time and follow deadline, this is trait of a trustworthy and highly professional freelancer. Your deadline does not merely show your sincerity but also makes the client depend on you in case of urgent works.

Respect time and you will grow unconditionally.

2. Ask questions when in doubt but try to limit chances of rework:

Too much revision/ rework brings client in doubt. Afterall their image is dependent on your performance. If client has to again and again point mistakes and ask for revision, this is a sign of an amateur writer.

3. Take small work even if it is as low as 300 words:

Do not wait for long and big projects, when you help the customers with small projects, they will return to you for bigger work. Do not be greedy, see the larger prospect of devoting your time for small projects.

These 3 steps I follow and I have never lacked work till date. Keep writing, keep learning.

All the best!!
